21st Century Ag Energy (21st CAE)
“Farmers Growing Crops, Producing Bio-fuels and Generating Electrical Energy”

21st Century Ag Energy is a subordinate organization of the Concerned Citizens of Carroll County, (Formed under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code). 21st CAE is a community-based organization, focused on protecting their citizens and making progress towards truly sustainable technologies, and foundation-funded organizations tied to various status-quo and future clean energy industries. 21st CAE is one means of promoting Alternative Green Energy solutions to assure these goals.

21st CAE is autonomous...operationally independent of C4 Association in accordance with IRC 501(c)(3). Our only goal is promoting green and sustainable energy from renewable resources... Any reference on this site, or included in other promotional material, to coal or other fossil fuel operations is a generalization of the industry and for comparison purposes only.

We believe that Carroll County can and should become a “Self-sufficient Farming Community”.  Our Green Economy Initiative is such an environmentally safe energy technology for Carroll County citizens.

Alternative Green Energy For Farming Communities

21st Century Ag Energy, under exclusive agreement with FuelCell Energy, has jointly submitted to the Department of Energy (at their request) an Alternative Green Energy Plan, the concept presented here.

South of the Missouri River, Mid- Missouri Energy (an ethanol plant) is fully operational and expanding. Here, in Carroll County, plant construction for Show-Me Ethanol is well underway and American Energy Producers (a bio-diesel plant) will start construction later this year.

Now you might ask… what would these facilities have to do with Alternative Green Energy?

In order to achieve green electrical energy production in a manner which would be fully compatible with the agricultural heritage in Greater Carroll County… two diverse and distinct technologies should be coupled into a single system… bio-fuel and fuel cell energy production.

Here we see 4 fuel cells installed at Sierra Nevada Brewing. The fuel cells provide all their electrical needs and excess electrical power is sent to the grid.

As seen from the picture, the two diverse technologies have been proven and are in use.  Since bio-fuel is produced in essentially the same manner, the application of fuel cells would produce similar cost savings for bio-fuel production.

A second step in this process, resulting in Green Energy, would be utilizing a portion of the bio-fuels for fuel cell operations. Fuel cells produce both electricity and heat.  The resulting electrical energy may be used to supplement or replace a utility’s electrical supply; it may also be sold back to the utility, thereby reducing electrical operating costs. In addition, the heat generated by the fuel cells will be utilized for processing bio-fuels, heating & cooling of the facility… with remaining heat used to drive a turbine for generating additional electrical power. (Heat may not be needed for bio-diesel processing.)

Missouri’s recent “Net-Metering” law creates the potential for self-generation.  And the…”Icing on the Cake”…. numerous tax incentives exist to promote Green Energy!!

The concept is not new… Bio-Town USA (Reynolds, Indiana) is already using similar Green Energy concepts and producing their own energy… electricity and gas.

Why Should Carroll County Consider Alternative Green Energy?

Well… let’s take a look at what has happened in Jeff City. Governor Blunt has signed into law the Green Power Initiative which takes effect on January 1, 2008.

The Green Power Initiative was passed to encourage development and use of technically feasible and economical renewable technologies, creating cleaner and more sustainable forms of energy for the residents of the state. The law requires ever increasing use of alternative forms of energy and efficiency by the utilities of this state (from 4% in 2012 to 11% in 2020).

Looking to Washington D.C. we find the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency all moving in the same direction. Governments are moving away from fossil fuels.
